So the fact that that scheme worked wasn't a surprise. Actually I still say it is. 343GS remarks that 04's pulse has a range of 25 thousand light years. But that when the OTHER installations fire, the entire galaxy will be "quite devoid of life". That's not a range I call limited. That places the range of the Halo installations well beyond the ability of any human vessel to escape unaided. The surprise
That was the second surprise. Actually, the idea that the Ark was beyond the galaxy itself should've been a surprise. It was a surprise to Bungie-- it used to be on Earth!
