In Response To: Re: The worst example is Floodgate (bedlam) : You aren't the only one who feels that way. His comments suggesting that : bungie created the Halo 3 storyline for idiots, and claiming it's all : about money, isn't helping his cause either. That isn't what I'm saying. But first of all, the word 'idiot' was used in a moment of frustration (which had nothing to do with anything here), and I've already apologized for it. It was a totally inaccurate and, frankly, stupid choice of words, and was anything but productive. Consider this another apology. But the thing is, Bungie may not be 'all about money' (and I don't think it is), but their primary concern as a business has to be profit. And to do so, they must be able to market a game to as large a demographic of people as is possible, so they took the Halo 3 campaign a step down from Halo 2's. I think the most telling evidence of this is that there were vastly mroe cinematics in Halo 2 as in Halo 3. I realize many people didn't like that, including a many people here, but those are really the biggest evidence of a plot-driven game, and the fact that there are less of them and more blowing aliens up with BFGs helps to demonstrate that Halo 3 was less about the plot. An equally valid reason for that, though, which I think was just as much a factor, is that it was vital that they get Halo 3 out on time, and as a result some really great but time-consuming ideas may have been scrapped right at the beginning, quite possibly including many cinematics. I hope now you can see the broader spectrum of my point instead of getting hung up on a single word I used in a moment of personal idiocy.
