In Response To: Re: The worst example is Floodgate (elpolloguapo) : Well, I just know literally nothing about Predator, so I'll just have to take : your word for it. I stopped watching after the third alien movie. Heh. I saw both Predator films in the theater when I was a kid. They're still among my favorite sci-fi films, along with the first three Alien films. The only thing I didn't like about Alien³ is that they killed off Hicks & Newt at the beginning, but it was otherwise a very good movie. David Fincher did a good job considering the situation he was in. Now Alien: Resurrection, OTOH, while not a bad movie, had enough flaws to keep it from being as good as the others. The whole genetic engineering thing was fine, at least until it got to the part with the hybrid "Newborn" alien. The xenomorphs themselves don't really do much of anything. AvP was a decent sci-fi/action flick, but AvP: Requiem was hit-or-miss. I liked the action scenes and homages to previous films, but the Resurrection-style wierdness and over-the-top violence were major drawbacks.
