In Response To: Re: Criticism of Bungie storytelling (Cody Miller) : It seems to me that if you want backstory, arm the player with it outside the : game. The terminals give you both. Its in the game but its separate. I like the terminals. I think that BNet could be used more. You could unlock BNet content as you progress through the game. Maybe there should be a browser built into the xbox or you access it from BNet via your PC. I liked the web comic that showed the human watching the portal being built. There was a wealth of information and emotional content in that little comic. Bungie has talented artists, some are into manga. I'd prefer that Bungie used in-house talent to tell its stories rather than going to an outside source. They'd have more flexibility and fewer publishing costs. If a little story occurs to them then they can tell that story. There are no big contracts to negotiate, no big names to sign up, no publishers. Just a good idea and somebody interested in doing it. The Ensemble artists take time to do hone their skill on life drawings, still lifes and stuff. Comic skills are similar to storyboarding and concept drawing but are different enough that they may be fun. New skills, a bit of fun... Who knows, Bungie comics, why not? :-) And once they have enough comics then they could publish them as a graphic novel or a collection. Then we get the Marvel, Bungie, DC crossovers... Iron Man and Master Chief fight the Flood, Green Lantern and the Arbiter fight, umm... more Flood ;-)
