I've played all three Marathon games several times, and I've : played Pathways Into Darkness, that said I'm not sure how your question : relates to the Halo storyline, or the questions I posed. I think what he's suggesting is that if you consider characters who utter cryptic dialogue to be a plot hole, it is interesting that you hold Halo to a different standard than you do Marathon. In terms of plot holes and details, Bungie has their stuff together on Halo way more than they did on Marathon, even though Marathon is arguably a deeper and MORE cryptic story. Heck, Bungie had miffed a few timeline details in Marathon and had to sort them out post-release. No goofs like that so far in Halo. Unless you count battle rifles in 2531 as a goof... but I blame Ensemble for that.
