In Response To: Re: Criticism of Bungie storytelling (reprobate) : Half-Life has done this from the start. It's nothing new, but is a strong : alternative to cut scenes. But the Half-Life games tell you very little story. Yes, the story is there, but it's just not fleshed out well at all. If anything, Half-Life is good at placing the player into a believable, cohesive setting. (Especially the first game) But it seems that in HL2, you're just everybodys bitch for no real reason beyond "You're Gordon Freeman!" I just finished Episode 2, and while I like the games, I don't think they're the pinnacle of game storytelling everyone claims. No more so than the Halo series if you consider game events only. (ignoring books and other sources of background info)
