There is an Elite on Floodgate that give a long piece of exposition about the elite fleet at Earth, who I never heard for weeks because of the Flood screaming. All I could make out was: "High Charity *GRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHH* sent *RRRAAAWWWRRRR* *plasma shots* hundreds of *THUD THUD THUD* here." It seems like most game designers today want to make their stories as incoherent as possible, to make way for immersion. That is why I could never get into Half-life: I was so confused by the plot, the atmosphere and gameplay had no effect on me.
