In Response To: Re: The worst example is Floodgate (elpolloguapo) : And as for being like Half-life and Valve, have you noticed the way the Halo : games have sold just a wee bit better than the Half-Life ones? There might : just be a reason for that... Yes, there is. It's that no PC game, no matter how good, will ever outsell a decently popular console game. That's how it goes. And shame on you for saying that fiscal success, or even popularity, is a valid method of measuring value. Come on. Doom was downloaded about 10 million times in 2 years. I have no idea how many copies PiD sold (hell, I don't even know what medium it was sold by) but I can tell you one thing: it was about as far from 10 million as it's possible to get. But if you tell me that Doom is a better game than PiD, I will laugh in your face. PiD is better than most games these days, and I hope I live to see someone remake it with modern technology. When I think of the possibilities: eerily non-Euclidean geometry within the pyramid, a Malice that doesn't resemble Barney in a comical manner, that evil little singing noise when you use the Yellow Crystal, the brightly-lit, noisy, wide-open early levels that slowly degenerate into shadowy, claustrophobic labyrinths with silently terrible enemies...but I digress. My point was, PiD is a hella better game than Doom. IMO, it's better than Doom 3 for sheer creepery. But if you look at which one is more popular, you will certainly not find PiD on top.
