In Response To: Re: The worst example is Floodgate (Louis Wu) We learn in Halo 2 (or at least, it is confirmed) that the Forerunners activated the halos, which wiped the galaxy clean, which you left out. We see that they tried and failed multiple times to defeat the flood using other methods. Discovering that a GM exists and what it is is pretty huge. As for why the Covenant came to Earth, the truth is implied, and by the end we know more or less everything except exactly what the Ark is. And so on and so forth. It's hard to quantify how much plot and how significant each detail is in every individual game, and in the end it just boils down to what one learned from each game and how that affected their view of the Haloverse. But my feeling is that Halo 3 didn't so much give significant new information as confirm old theories. But on a side note, what "weaknesses" of the GM were you referring to?
