So why did they choose to market it as some deeply moving and intellectual experience? Why did they decide to make hours of retrospective mockumentaries highlighting the depth of the storyline and the emotion at the heart of it? Halo 3 would've sold millions no matter what happened in the storyline. Those who aren't interested in it won't pay attention to what limited storyline Bungie choose to include, those who are probably aren't going to be pleased by it. You might argue that people don't want to sit down and watch cutscenes that are long, or listen to deep and confusing plot points... fair point, but they have the option to ignore it, and the option to skip it. What do those who want more get? Nothing. I think that Bungie did themselves a disservice if they really did try to dumb down the game to appeal to the mass market. Can you really argue that they have story integrity when they decide to play towards the lowest possible denominator of their target audience? Again, this is something Valve have never done. I see no reason why Bungie couldn't have stepped up their game for this, well, game. Everything they said seemed to say they were. - Charley
