I do not believe the team dumbed down their story to appeal to lesser mortals and make more money. That's all. I tend to believe they did what they had to do to make the best game possible in the allotted timeframe. If the story is less ambitious, it isn't because they wanted more money, or wanted to appeal to the LCD while screwing you over.. It's because they admitted failure with Halo 2's development (still made tons of loot), claiming they possibly bit off more than they could chew at the time, and decided they wouldn't let that happen again in regards to Halo 3. If I'm not mistaken, JJ took a lot the blame, and I don't even think he lead the H3 project. Seems to me developing such ambitious stories is becoming increasingly difficult for these old school noobs who used to tell all of their stories by writing a short book in the middle of a game. I have no doubt that the entire team did their best, worked their ass off on Halo 1, 2, and 3.. And most importantly, learned a whole bunch about what it takes to pull it off in the process. You live and you learn, and lucky for us.. It's a neverending process. I expect better things to come as the team continues to improve their craft in this industry. I'm with you, not against you, btw. I know you mean well, and only want the best. And I think the same of bungie. I know they only want to deliver to us the product they can.
