In Response To: Re: Hokey stories and ancient religions. (elpolloguapo) : True, that is a bit of one. : But it's likely that they were defeated. GM was just using that as a staging : ground, the flood probably brought everyone they could to High Charity and : the sentinels may well have been able to mop up the rest, especially if : 2401 PT escaped... On the side of character inconsistencies I'd like to say that I found Truth to be massively different to his portrayal in Halo 2. He was played and written like a person in control of everything, an intelligent, sophisticated enemy that was always one step ahead - ruthless in his goal for his own plan to succeed. Then it turns out that he's really just a nut job. It seemed, too me, like Bungie couldn't come up with anything that he would be aiming towards, or anyway to adequately show that, and thus took the easy route of making him a bumbling religious zealot. He felt more like Mercy. As Luis said the idea of other Flood being out their, especially on the Halo rings, was never really explored, and Cortana's comment about the Covenant being surprised to find us on Earth was left blank. I know that, really, you can creatively fill in the blanks... but that's not what I expect from the final installment of something that claims to have an epic storyline. If the fans need to make guesses or assertions about what Guilty Spark meant about our previous enquiries, or if we have to fill in the blanks about the Covenant being surprised to find us here, then to me, that's a plot hole. It's something that the fans have to fill-in because francly, Bungie didn't or couldn't. How did the Arbiter get to Earth so quickly? Unexplained. Maybe the comic book will do so, but right now it's not out, so we don't know... Why were their seagulls on High Charity? Sometimes it seems like Bungie placed incredibly hints towards the plot in the background, and this was a good use of subtle story telling. In Halo 3 it seems like they forgot most of these or decided we could just make stuff up or double guess dialogue. - Charley
