In Response To: Re: That's stupid from a gaming standpoint *SP* (Stephen L. (SoundEffect)) : I'll give an example that looking just at the games, but not supplemental : material, is not internally consistent: According to the game Reach, the : Autumn arrives at Halo on September 19, 2552. : According to the game Halo 1, Jenkins' helmet recording is in May, 2552. : Halo did not take that long to play. Isn't there still that issue regarding internal clock systems and what a slipspace jump does to it or whatever? The whole September 7th thing? September 19th is technically incorrect, and based on PoA time even though in actuality the PoA's "clocks" are off, right? Unfortunately, we have to base a lot of this on First Strike and thus we have a problem. The novels have made things way too difficult. To add to your list of inconsistencies, if we have to take the games as they stand without any outside material, there's still absolutely no explanation as to how Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson got to Earth in time for Halo 2 in nothing but a Longsword. I swear I saw Johnson die at the end of H1! Too bad we don't have a novel to reconcile that now. And H3? Well, yeah. There's still no explanation (and I doubt there will be any that ever makes sense) as to how Miranda, Arbiter, and Johnson made it back. There's also the issues you've pointed out in Sadie's Story regarding the slipspace rupture. I've never cared to pay attention to the novels when considering video game canon until Reach because Reach actually pulls references from Ghosts of Onyx, but in the process it's obliterated a lot of TFoR and First Strike, thus practically rendering them void.
