That's the entire point in my opinion. It's a universe. They way we see it is through different mediums: games, novels, anime, comics.

Still the same universe. It should not contradict itself. All the information we're arguing over isn't fan fiction it's canonical sources. The fact that there are degrees of canon sources says that proper care wasn't exercised in the beginning to keep the overall history consistent. And that's sad.
