At least : they're not the keeper of the flame anymore. Cop out, perhaps, but I would say that Bungie has been pretty darn consistent within the game universe, the game universe was created by them, so I give them more leeway than I might, say, Ensemble. My point is that the above is a better argument against treating the books as the final word about all things Halo, and it's certainly a better argument than saying TFOR is bad because it's old. If newer means better, every Halo game would've been better than the last. However much we may wish (and the developers may want) that to be true, unfortunately, I can't say that's true, and I certainly respect someone who says, for instance, that Halo CE is better than Halo 3.
