In Response To: Re: A longer term fan's perspective (Louis Wu) : The Limited Edition contains Halsey's journal, as well, and costs $20 more : than the regular edition. Most Halo novels have been $15 or so at the time : of release (they drop when cheaper editions are issued later), so $20 for : Halsey's Journal isn't TOTALLY unreasonable. (You also get some little : stuff and a nice box - but it sounds like what matters to you is the : book.) Mocketh not the box, folks. I brought my spare copy of Halo: Reach to the office to lend to my boss, and for a lark brought it in the Limited Edition box with journal and wrapping and everything. I think that closed a sale for Bungie, even though she's going to play my loaner copy first. The box and bonus content will really blow you away if you're into the Halo extended universe; it's even a tactile treat to handle. : That said, yes, this is a break from the original pattern of "the books
I'm with thebruce0 on this one; if all you've seen of Halo are the games, you're fine as there's nothing in Reach that breaches game canon. (Even including Halo Wars, IMO.) It's only when you try to reconcile the novels and ancillary material that the ride gets bumpy. -- Steve understands the consternation, but thinks it's a tad overplayed here. Besides, if you want to see a really messed-up canon go take a look at the Dr. Who fanwarz...
