Exactly. The idea and most of the story of Reach could have been workable if they'd used a little finesse. I have no idea why they brought the PoA to ground or why they needed it to involve Cortana or Keyes at all.
I've pretty much decided that Reach takes place in an alternate universe. That's why there's no marathon symbol anywhere. It's a cheap mind game, but it makes my brain hurt less.
