They were written with the knowledge that we : have NOW. : Fall of Reach. : First Strike. : The Flood. : I don't like those. : Why? : Oh, they're great books, but they're OLD. : Fall of Reach came out in 2001, from then to 2010, we have had new Covenant : ships, characters, species, planets, games. : It is out dated and we need to quit saying OH HEY LETS CONFORM TO A BOOK : WRITTEN WHEN WE HAD NOTHING BUT A SINGLE GAME. : Really, guys. : You don't hold a Star Wars novel written when Return of The Jedi was made to : the same level of quality to one written last year. I think you're all forgetting that Bungie themselves have read every book and said on multiple occasions that it's canon. That's why fans (like myself) are getting mad. Especially when you establish something in two different books and then throw it out the window for the games. It honestly wouldn't have been that much more effort to work around what was already established in the books and craft something awesome. Again I will reiterate: BUNGIE THEMSELVES APPROVED THE BOOKS AS CANON. Yes the games come first, but the books are still supposed to be canon. And ok yeah the books were written when there was only one game. So because there was only one game when the prequel to Halo was written, means that it should just all be abandoned when Bungie wants to make a game out of that novel?
