In Response To: Re: It's outright carelessness. (Stephen L. (SoundEffect)) : If Bungie wants Reach to be the defining canon, then why can't we get a Fall : of Reach rewrite to make this better? Why republish the novel virtually : untouched along side the game now, knowing they can't be reconciled? : I'd prefer a rewrite of the novels so long as it make the universe consistent
Oh yeah, I'd completely forgotten about the re-release of TFoR (new cover, fixed typos). Not exactly a re-write. But you know, I'll bet that novel's sales took a massive spike when they made that move. Must have been really nice for the marketing directors.
'The Fall of Reach, the official tie in novel to the award winning video game, Halo: Combat Evolved.'
It's funny though Loftus, I specifically thought of you when I played through Reach with my buddy the other night. I haven't been on this forum for a long time and haven't even played Halo for a while, but I always loved your articles and what a good job you did putting all of the pieces of Halo together and making them fit. When I lost track of the number of changes that Reach made while we were playing, I had an image of a massive stack of crumpled papers surrounding one of those basketball-hooped garbage cans at your place. C'est la vie. I've still got the books and Microsoft can't take them away. The stories and the characters are still there and I'm still going to enjoy re-reading them.
