Given what we know, what happened in First Strike, and the supposed nature of rampancy in Halo (as opposed to Marathon) I think it would be reasonable to presume that MB "hitching a ride" on Cortana would most likely accelerate her rampancy, rather than retard it. Indications are that the large amount of data she absorbed on Installation 04 was problematic; I don't see any reason to guess that having MB's codebase on board would improve the situation rather than make it worse. Given the switch to more animated terminals in Anniversary, I'd tend to think that Halo 4 will treat ARG, novel, and Halo 3 terminal content pretty much the same way that all the games treated ancillary content: they won't depend on people knowing it, which for the most part means making any connections to it surface and/or optional.
