In Response To: Re: Interesting Frankie Quote (DHalo) : Like has been said, it makes absolute sense for his armor to have EVA : thrusters. I do agree that Bungie was absolutely scarce on giving the : chief's armor any sort of equipment. Leaving the prior "utility : belt" comment alone, you would think his armor would have some basic : EVA utilities. Why make a suit that is EVA ready and capable without : giving a Spartan any way to potentially navigate said 0g environment? I'm not really as interested in what it might have made sense for Bungie to put in the armor, had they thought of it, than what we know for sure they actually did put in the armor, because when we play the game, we can use it. : Also, this marks the territory where looking at the games vs the novels gets
I honestly ignore the novels almost completely when it comes to stuff like this. : And that doesn't take away from the Chief's badassness because space...is
I'd reiterate that it does. It reduces what is essentially a seemingly impossible, Herculean task, to one that can be tackled with appropriate care and a knowledge of mathematics. This is not the way the Chief does anything. In fact, such a task would be best left to Cortana. That scene was obviously made without jets of any kind in anyone's mind, and the absence of them, or indeed ANY means whatsoever for the Chief to guide his trajectory, is what underpins Cortana's assertion that this is "crazy" and what defines the Chief's almost blind faith in his own ability to do whatever is required-- even when it seems impossible. If it HAD been impossible, he STILL would have done it. Tempering that with even the slightest hint of assistive technology makes the scene so different as to be unrecognizable.
