In Response To: You people are confusing me. (Louis Wu) : So I missed all this conversation last week, when it raged, because I was a : little busy. But I'm catching up now, and I'm confused: it seems that : everyone (well, most people) are assuming that this trailer begins right : where Halo 3's Legendary ending ends up. : Why? : There was no open Arc-like disc on the surface of the planet we saw in Halo 3
: So why can't it be YEARS after that ending? Why can't 343 be producing a
: My VERY FIRST REACTION when I watched the trailer was "holy crap, this
: How come everyone else is betting on 343's worst? I feel as though I have made my position quite clear but just in case I'll repeat my stance. 343i, by your own admission, did not make it clear that a significant amount of time had passed. If that was something they wished to communicate: they failed. I, personally, do not have a problem with changing the Master Chief's armor as long as there is an in-story explanation for it. Since Frankie has already clarified that there is, in fact, a legitimate in-story explanation, I'm all set. When it comes to the burn that 343i received: they deserved it. If they wanted to avoid the backlash, they could have easily done something similar to the Halo 2 teaser; specifically, they could have had the MC in a completely different setting than the ending of Halo 3. Just because you had a different thought process from most people does not make most people's thought processes illegitimate. The community was rightly upset because of the similarities between this teaser's setting and the setting of the ending of Halo 3.
