In Response To: Re: Interesting Frankie Quote (Stephen L. (SoundEffect)) : To clear on my stance, I'm a fan of the Haloverse. Not just the games, but : all the canonical ancilliary info as well. I understand that looking at : the game component of the Haloverse, the Spartans can't do what we know : they are truly capable of. I have to let a lot of gameplay-specific : concessions slide. You can't get away with those same concessions in a : novel, say. Again, I sort of look at that the other way around. Scenes in the novels that make struggling with a single Elite into a dramatic struggle indicate to me that for the purposes of maintaining dramatic tension, the capabilities of the Spartans are actually quite a bit less spectacular (if perhaps a bit more varied) than they are within the context of the games. As Halo is primarily a game upon which the novels are based, and not the other way around, I accept that the novels' presentation of Spartans is one that is distorted for the needs of the format of the novel, and that the game's presentation is authoritative.
