In Response To: Re: I don't think I actually even interpreted... (Louis Wu) : Really? : I read at least 50 posts from Narcogen this morning all utilizing a set of
: If you make one post saying "I don't like what I see" - that's one
: And while not everyone posts as much as Narc, it's EVERYBODY's certainty
I'm speaking for myself here momentarily, but the posts I made about not liking it were directed at the teaser. I won't repeat my arguments, but there's a few reasons why I thought the teaser, as a teaser, fell short of what it (in my eyes) was trying to accomplish. : You say you're trying to make sense of it just like I am - the difference is,
What about "I don't understand it, but I don't like what it implies"? As a teaser, it's meant to tease certain elements of the game. If the teaser (in my opinion) fails in getting me excited about a franchise I'm very passionate about, it's only logical I'll be concerned about the final product, as well. That doesn't mean I'm automatically throwing the final product out of the proverbial window. I'm sure there're people that automatically dismissed Halo 4 because the teaser trailer did nothing for them. They're a bit overzealous, I agree. It's pointless writing off something based on a short CG trailer. However, 343 released this trailer, so we can assume there's some representability in there. The fact that so many people are going over every little detail in the trailer, often giving their thoughts on what it implies, how they feel about it, and discussing it with others shows how much people still care about the universe. Some are more open to discussion than others, true, but the moment everyone starts acting the same is the moment we should all start checking for Flood infection. Only a minority of us are dismissing the game entirely. The rest of us are discussing the implications of the trailer, and whether we like them or not. : I'm not willing to dislike what I don't understand, JUST because I don't
I don't "dislike" Halo 4 based on one trailer, but, based on the same trailer, I'm not excited about it either. I'm still passionate about the Halo universe, as are many others, otherwise we wouldn't be here. I'm hoping 343 can still blow me away after having somewhat of a rough start. I can understand being confused at the reactions of some people here, but the majority are just giving voice to their thoughts and concerns and discussing it. It's not very different from when another Halo game is announced, but of course, because there's a new studio at the helm, people will be looking at it a bit more apprehensively.
