In Response To: Re: Interesting Frankie Quote (mnemesis) : I disagree about the lasting significance of the line in Halo 3. If 4 turns : out to be a farce about saving the universe from clowns or some such : nonsense, and I go back and play through 3, the line will still be : meaningful in the only context it was ever intended to be meaningful, the : end of that game. I salute you, sir. That's a level of cognitive dissonance I cannot achieve :) The ending of that game gets me every time. I can accept the Chief being woken to save Cortana again. I won't accept him being woken to get up and pee and put on a jetpack. Even if that's what happened. I don't want or need to see it. I don't want to be forced to acknowledge it. If Cortana has to wake the Chief again it better damn well be because there's a damn good reason. The trailer shows no damn good reason-- just some fake, symbolic danger from hull collapse, and a fire that goes out as quickly as it starts-- and also for no apparent reason. It's clumsy. There is no use of danger so clumsy in any Halo trailer or cutscene to date. : - Ooh, they're nerves. Must really be out of it.
: Like I said, maybe I'm simpler than many here, but it worked for me. Not simpler-- perhaps just more friendly. I will freely admit, I wanted this trailer to prove to me why Halo 3 shouldn't be the end. That's a tall order. Maybe it was impossible.
