I see more bickering on sides than : people trying to find some sort of middle ground. It's not about the speculation. Back then, most stuff was unrevealed and new stuff could easily be made. After 10 years, it's a complex fictional universe. It's hard to speculate about new stuff when you keep seeing inconsistencies and retcons popping up all the time. That worry ruins the enjoyment of speculation.
