Anyways, I disagree that they should have been subtle. They made it clear from the start that they are not Bungie, and they need to continue to drive that point home. The more they can get it through people's heads that they are not Bungie and that things may be different, the better. Being subtle about it would have made them look unconfident IMO. I agree that it's a bold move, but I wouldn't call it arrogant at all. They are doing what they have to to make it clear that things may be a little different in the future.
