In Response To: You people are confusing me. (Louis Wu) : So I missed all this conversation last week, when it raged, because I was a : little busy. But I'm catching up now, and I'm confused: it seems that : everyone (well, most people) are assuming that this trailer begins right : where Halo 3's Legendary ending ends up. Not right where, but considering the ending and the size of the planet, unless that thing is ridiculously MASSIVE, they're probably a few days or weeks out from it. The question is how much time passed between exiting the Ark portal at that random part of the galaxy and the arrival at the Halo 3 Legendary ending. It does not appear that all that much time has passed between the H3 Legendary ending and this moment in the H4 teaser. : Why? : There was no open Arc-like disc on the surface of the planet we saw in Halo 3
Too far away from the planet thing in H3 to see its features more distinctly. That disc could be and most likely is right there. If 343 Industries really expects us to believe that he's in FUD and in cryo and now at some completely different place before being brought out of cryo, they failed miserably in conveying that or getting the majority of people to think of it that way. : So why can't it be YEARS after that ending? Why can't 343 be producing a
It could be years after Halo 3's ending, but the odds of it being years after H3's Legendary ending seem implausible unless, again, that planet is of a ridiculous size. I mean it only takes a few days to go from Earth to the Moon, and the way they'd look in relation to each other is clearly quite large. The same would ideally apply to your view from a ship nearing your destination, unless of course it's so utterly gigantic that it can be seen clearly even a year's time away from arrival (and I doubt that's the case, but I suppose it COULD be). : My VERY FIRST REACTION when I watched the trailer was "holy crap, this
He just came out of cryo to the point that 343 Industries started the reveal out with his body waking itself up and coming back to life. I doubt he put himself back into cryo again. So sure, it probably is much later than Halo 3's ending itself, but not all that far after the Legendary ending. No time for him to get anything new. Odds are the thrusters were always there but never had a purpose or reason to be shown until now. If it's a jetpack, that's nuts. Thus, I bet it's just EVA. : How come everyone else is betting on 343's worst? I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not. I'm definitely guarded and cautious, and I'd say that as a marketing tool the trailer failed (considering all this confusion and debate over details that aren't what 343 Industries wanted us to focus on), but I'm also aware that it's a CGI trailer that doesn't show a damn thing and that I should reserve my actual judgment until I see some in-game stuff.
