Mmm... no. That's not what I'm saying. The aforementioned drawn conclusions were drawn because of an error in communication on 343i's part, NOT an error in understanding on the community's part. 343i made the setting and timing to look too much like that of the end of Halo 3. This is why I liked the Halo 2 teaser where the Chief jumps out of a spaceship: it's clearly in a different time and setting than the end of Halo 1 so any number of things could have happened in the interim, including the armor change. In THAT case, I can see why a community reaction such as this would be confusing. However, in the case of this trailer, while I agree that a significant amount of time COULD have gone by, it is not made evident by the teaser itself. In this case, the more logical conclusion, based on the setting presented by the trailer, is that the story picks up immediately where Halo 3 left off and that the developers simply made a mistake. That is the most obvious conclusion and the one that makes the most sense at the outset. Please bear in mind that I am not arguing that the conclusion the community came to was the correct one, just that it was the most logical one given the ambiguity of the teaser and that I can see why most people (myself included) came to said conclusion. You seem to be having a hard time understanding why people reacted the way they did, I'm just trying to help shed some light on an additional possible perspective. In short, people got confused because 343i's teaser was confusing. No big surprise here.
