In Response To: Re: Interesting Frankie Quote (Narcogen) : If its new functionality added latter than initially designed then it : *breaks* continuity, not maintains it. Several previous events are no : longer comprehensible if this functionality existed at the time, and no : opportunity is given later for it to be added. : I don't get it. The objection to the jetpacks and the shoulders is the same--
: Why? I see the gauntlets and shoulder changes the same way I view seeing a Stormtrooper helmet versus a Clone Tropper Helmet from Star Wars. At a mere glance I can tell which is which. The Chief should not look fundamentally different than he did going into Cryo and it was painfully obvious that he did. Unless I missed something, the maneuvering jets were fully concealed in the armor before being deployed. That suggests they were there all along and although we could argue there may have been an opportunity to use them in the past, for whatever reason he chose not to. That reason doesn't have to be that grand for me to accept that concealed thrusters were part of a suit that could provide vacuum protection and EVA capability for 90 minutes. Frankly, if he didn't have built-in thrusters I'd question it.
