Perhaps it's a more general criticism, if what you say is true: whilst the technology exists for facial capture to have improved massively, it really hasn't. I was distinctly unimpressed with some of the mocap speech, particularly Dr Halsey's. From watching the Legendary documentary I know that the motion capture and voice recording were done independently, which would explain why they're not quite perfectly in sync. Irrespective: I am not convinced by this suggestion that the mocap was good enough to turn wooden characters into scenery-chewing thespians.
