If this were true, why wouldn't Half-Jaw have objected strenuously to Hood's assertion that his cruiser "glassed half a continent" during Halo 3? I assume terminology is not an issue, since either all parties are speaking English, or having their native languages translated as required. Once Hood's term "glassed" is translated and footnoted according to the human definition of the term, either what Half Jaw has done in order to fight the Flood infestation is exactly as lethal as Hood thinks it is (but justifiable), or else he should object. He objects not to the term, and what it implies, but instead justifies the action as necessary. If it isn't as lethal as Hood thinks it is, it doesn't require justification.
