Massive improvement from Halo 3/ODST. Massive improvement, yes. Excellent job? I'm not so sure — to me it was still inferior to the facial animation in Half-Life 2, which is now six years old. I certainly wouldn't go using the modest improvement in facial animation to support some argument about these cardboard cutout characters having depth.
