Maybe GoO didn't happen in Bungie's reboot. Of course 343 may have something to say about that and reboot the reboot. Some fans seem to think that the Halo story is Nylund's story and they take Bungie to task for not sticking to canon. Maybe Reach was Bungie's way of saying that Halo was their story. Of course, legally, Halo's story belongs to Microsoft and unless Bungie makes another Halo game then they have lost the final say. 343 will decide what happens and what happened with Halsey, Spartan 3s, etc. I suspect that Nylund fans will be better served in future but only time will tell. Bungie didn't even keep events straight between one story and the next (h2 to Halo 3 to ODST). 343 has tried to make sense of the discrepancies so it looks like they care more about such stuff. OTOH they haven't yet had to make a game story work. Lets see what they do when they are in the hot seat.
