I gotta say, ODST's opening : cutscene did things much better than Reach. All the characters interact : believably and you get a sense of who they are; it may be a mission : briefing as well, but it's not boring as hell. I have to get the feeling this is the result of Joseph Staten's role in either game. IE, whenever we were told things about the ODST Project, we seemed to get them from Staten, we were told that he was working on this while the rest of the team was working on other things (what we now know to be Reach). He was the director of cinematics for Halo CE through ODST, and I just get the feeling that he wasn't as intimately involved with Reach as he was with the other projects, and it shows. I dunno, I could be wrong.
