Well, my impression of Jun as very confident in his own abilities and comfortable with them. He's always cool and calm in his exchanges, even to the degree of being cold (referring to missing UNSC Marines as strays) or his little exchange with the 'suspected' Rebels. As for Emile, I wouldn't go as far as saying traumatic childhood, but he does have a visible distrust and even disdain of civilians, which just so happen to be the people he's supposed to be protecting.
