In Response To: Hawaiian Pig's Fantabulous Story Review *SP* (Hawaiian Pig) This is a very good articulation of the complaints I had, and pretty much nails everything. There was just a lot of squandered potential and missed opportunity on the character side. I do, admitedly, at some level, like that Bungie tried to tell a story through juxtaposition of disjoint events, because that can go a long way when done well. I just wish that it felt as though the progression of events had been thought out before the events themselves; it feels like the events were built and then the story built around them. They didn't totally fail at making it work, but it didn't work for me quite as well as I was hoping it to. And since the only other real storytelling drive apart from the final levels is character drive, some parts of the game left me a little bit hollow the first time. My second playthrough (first I played normal, second time on heroic) was somewhat better, but there's definitely stuff in there still that isn't connecting very well and which I'm not quite as pumped for replaying because it just doesn't seem meaningful. With Nightfall, the only real drive to play is the quality the gameplay holds. I really love the game, but I can't help but feel that despite how incredibly crazy awesome it is (roughly 3 times as awesome as a ninja pirate zombie robot), it could have been better.
