The : whole point of making a narrative work is to DRAMATIZE THE MATERIAL! Dramatization notwithstanding, Halo: Reach struck me as less of a pure narrative work and more of a hybridized found footage/mockumentary-type work. I think they were going for a sort of Blair Witch or Cloverfield-like vibe with the first-person shakeycams, surveillance footage and intentionally-vague plot. Take from that what you will. The way I see it, the problem with this is that it represented a bit of an unanticipated genre shift. People were thrown for a loop when they expected Reach to have the same format as prior installments in the series.
