I freaking KNEW that I wouldn't be in that little cavalry charge. It's annoying that I can't participate in a battle like that (the "Believe" site for Halo 3 would have been a SEXY mission).
But I never found the characters offensively bad like I did with Halo Wars. Kat may have been stereotypical, but she wasn't a direct carbon copy of anything else, and I liked Carter telling off Dr. Halesy (something I've wanted to do for a long time). In regards to Noble Six, though, I think it was the point to have him be a Gary Stu, which would have been served better if he were silent.
