In Response To: Your opinion. (munky-058) : I hoped that challenges would be CHALLENGES. Stuff like "Beat Sword Base : on Normal using only the AR" (VERY fun, by the way), where you are : challenged to play the game differently, not things that make you play : longer. I agree with this statement, as well as most of what Cody said. I miss the classic arcade style games like Contra, Double Dragon and Street Fighter. But just like everything else in the world, there has to be progression. As technology advances and video games become more and more mainstream, the competition gets greater. I agree with Cody's idea of achievements turning sour. I was looking through my played game history the other day. Games that released at 360 Launch had maybe 10 achievements. Now it almost feels like, if there aren't at least 25 achievements, you feel cheated. Need for Speed Most Wanted achievements were unlocked as you beat the story mode....and that was it. Now with achievements being based on a combination of skill, luck and corporate sponsorship...they have kind of become a joke. Halo Reach challenges were a great idea, but I also think they aren't being used to their full potential. I've recently found myself tired of Reach already, but the idea of challenges is what brings me back. Some challenges in fact ruin the gameplay for me. Especially challenges requiring you to get assists. I'll go into double team and shoot people just to drop shields...then run away. Needless to say, I rarely score very high in multi team. I'm sure my random teammates love me. Any challenge that says "Kill xx enemies in any game mode" means, time for target locator on sword base. Yeah, it ruins the spirit of the game...but why spend 30-60 minutes in firefight when I can do it in 3 minutes? Pretty obvious that I'm playing for credits...not enjoyment. Like Cody said...I'm a bit of a completionist. I want my armory progress to read 100%. I'm currently at about 59%. It's starting to feel like a chore instead of fun reward. Sadly, Reach has not captivated me. I've found each Halo title to be less and less captivating. The sad thing is, as Halo is the most recent title, it is the main population holder so there really isn't any going back to Halo 3. I feel like the end of my Reach days is sooner than desired...and then I will be completely Halo'd out :(
