In Response To: Re: On Bungie and the Value of the Player's Time (General Battuta) : I can see what you're saying, but I'm not sure it's the same thing. Teaming : up to do something hard is enjoyable, but the task you're tackling still : needs to be inherently rewarding; WoW provides a narrative and a social : structure for these challenges. Would teaming up to farm commendations, or : even to get assists in matchmaking, necessarily be as much fun as playing : with friends for fun? You can farm stuff with friends in WoW and have it be fun, yes. The raids themselves provide gear rewards (and gold) for your character as well as the sense of accomplishment from tackling something with your friends. However, playing for fun will inherently and almost always be more fun and provide far more lasting memories than the farming aspect. That you can have fun memories while farming isn't to be ignored - however if that's the crux of your gameplay (or your gameplay BECOMES that), you're fucked.
