In Response To: Re: On Bungie and the Value of the Player's Time (Beckx) : I don't know what to say. The last few weeks I've been in groups that formed : for the sole purpose of helping each other with challenges and we had an : absolute blast. If not for the assists & kills challenges I wouldn't : have been in multiteam so much with Kermit & Co. If not for the : campaign co-op challenge I would have been denied the chance to watch the : covenant smoke bluerunner over and over and over again. Would we still be : playing? Sure. But the challenge provided a context and a focus and I had : fun. So there you go - I'm not saying it's perfect but I'm having fun. : Real fun, too, not the illusion of fun. Or maybe I just like illusions? Hey, if it weren't for exceptions like this, I'm sure there would a lot more resentment over the manipulation afoul. I understand what you are saying, and I even thrive for it, but I admit it is becoming less and less common these days. I'm almost sure Bungie wouldn't go for an investment system if it didn't present the opportunities you described.
