In Response To: Re: Something else I don't like about "Halo 2.0" (Leisandir)
: Halsey's general awesomeness.
...Bleh...

I dunno about that... it goes against the notion that the Spartan's first priority is their duty.
John might though. He's the one who has become the wildcard, mostly thanks to Cortana.
Fred, Kelly and Linda may have defended Halsey, but I don't know if that would go so far as to go renegade from the UNSC for her.
We also don't know how many of the S-II's will take up the offer of having full access to their files. Learning their origins and how it might affect them.
: It'd be neat to see some

: demonstrate the same sort of brainwashing the IIs were accused of.
That's hardly clean cut imo. One could easily say it demonstrates that the S-IIs are essentially Halsey's puppets if they will do absolutely anything she says. Sounds more like a matter of who has actually brainwashed who.
Thus far, Halsey's efforts for atonement that started in First Strike and continued in Ghosts of Onyx was little more than trying to protect her Spartans, but she was quite prepared to do this through lies and manipulation.
It's not like she asked Kelly to come with her to Onyx and gave her a choice.
That lowers her holding quite a bit in my eyes. She might say she wants to do right by the Spartans, but unless she's actually offering them the choice, she's not much better than the military which has used them more as equipment than people for so long.
: That's a much more interesting thread, to me, than fighting more aliens and
: Forerunner shit, but I very seriously doubt it'll go in that direction.
: Bungie's tradition of no-killing-humans is probably something 343i won't
: want to discard.
I agree that human in-fighting is the more interesting thread, but that will likely remain confined to the EU.
I wouldn't exactly call it a Bungie tradition as such, going all the way back to Robt McLees HGN comic which depicted a bloody great big sniper round quite graphically blowing a human to bloody chunks!
But it's certainly not in the nature of the games.
Who knows how different that might have been though, had Halo 2 not been toned down due to real life events in Iraq at the time.
