Exactly. We only ever hear of humans and Covenant species. Is the implication that there was no other intelligent life? Or are we just inferring that? Surely there's other non-intelligent life throughout the galaxy.

: Like the galaxy's police men? In a much more outwardly humble facade perhaps :). But the awe and mystery of Forerunner capability is slowly reducing as we learn more about them, and what they're really capable of, relative to our current (future current) capabilities. They're starting to feel more like children who have access to lots and lots of super advanced technology, and didn't have the capacity to do the proper thing in the (extra) long run. Precursors perhaps are more like parents now, dealing with its two children in a room filled with Dunno, rambling now :)
