In Response To: Mothergoat's Second Opinion of Halo 2 (mothergoat) mothergoat- Having read your review, and played Halo 2 more, I realize that many of your points are valid. Originally, many people were caught up the the excitement of Halo 2, but when you take a step back, you begin to realize something intangible is missing. I believe that it is the sensation of Halo 1; it made you feel, drew you into the game. I remember the first time that I set foot on Halo, the opening scene of Silent Cartographer when you touch down in the hot Landing Zone, and even the fear from the first time I met the Flood (from the goal on the pause sreen: Escape!, to the heart-pounding music, I was terrified). Even now I cannot play 343GS on legendary late at night because of the fear it invokes. Halo 2 failed to immerse me in the game the way that Halo 1 did. I have now returned to playing AotCR and tagging grunts with plasma grenades, joyfully listening to them scream, "Ooh ah! Get it off me!!!" |
