Halo 2 is better (rant) | |

In Response To: I loved halo 2 (*ending was great*) (MacDjinn) I'd have to agree with Mothergoat. Halo 2 is more spray n pray - but i think you need a litte more faith in Bungee. I'd like to therorize that people need some time wtih the game to find a good strategy (just like in Halo 1). I get the feeling people wanted to pump into the game and stick everyone they saw and flip some 'hogs. Well... it's a different game - and i think the physics engine is better. AND! I'm sick and tired about people complaining about the popping textures! There's no loading time in the game for gosh sakes...! the only time popping happens in gameplay is if you skip a cutscene and then u have the 'box rushing to catch up with you. Back to the physics engine - i think it's much more realistic. Friction exists much more realistically now (no more having to run with a vehicle if you're standing on it). The hogs don't fly up anymore because they take damage - and things absorb the blast by breaking. Take a sheet of paper - hold it by the top and with your other fist punch it - the paper wraps around your fist and barely moves otherwise. Instead of the 'hog being a 100% solid thing, it has little bits and pieces that absorb the blast and ultimately break off. I'd have to agree, grenades and rockets have a smaller blast radius. I like it for rockets, but not grenades. Grenades are made to clear a room by design. rockets can arguably be as weak as they are. And be careful when discussing realism and such. My personal choice is a non-realistic but rational game. I don't care if we're all talking bananas with pet monkies that fight, i just want to play it and feel like this is what a talking banana with a fighting pet monkey REALLY would be like. So, props to Bungie. It's off the wall, but it's believeable! And ultimately, Multiplayer. I like the bullethoses, I really do. The noobs can grab them and spray and pray if they don't know what they're doing and then the better players can scrap the hoses and get something better. This way everyone's starting with a weapon that any level of player can use, and if you're so great, go get that carbine in the hallway to the right and kill all the sub carrying noobs. And, dual weilding is very well balanced - once u have it you take a long time to switch weapons, no grenades and a long reload time. You can also spend a lot of time fumbling around to get the right secondary gun... while the better player's got the sniper rifle and ripping your team apart (and you). There are too few levels, i'll agree. But, i think they all shine, they all have moments in them, just gotta find them. The joy in sitting at the portal in blood gulch, ready to melee the other team who's following your flag-carrying teammate who just portaled - did you find that right away in halo 1? Give the game time, everyone! It isn't going to be halo 1 again; it's halo 2. You'll have to play more to enjoy its beauty. I trust bungee... Oh, ye of little faith! :-P - Trainne hahaha |
