In Response To: Re: Mothergoat's Second Opinion of Halo 2 (True Monkey King) If Bungie had kept everything the same from Halo 1, it would not have taken three whole years to make. Probably more like half of that time. The reason Bungie took so long to make Halo 2 is because they reworked the entire gameplay. If they would have stuck with what was in Halo 1, most everything would have been already pretty much thought out and done, and it would have came out in half the time that Halo 2 did. But because they didn't, they had to spend a lot of time tweaking and testing everything. I, for one, would have rather had a quick sequel with just the necessary improvements made, (mainly xbox live and a better story, amoung others), rather than a complete reworking of the whole game system. Halo gameplay fans wanted more HALO gameplay, not a completely new game. If they would have stuck with that, they could have taken half the time to make it. Mostly that's why I'm dissapointed, because I didn't get what I expected. Just like mothergoat, I would have really, REALLY liked Halo 2 if it was a completely different game. And I really, REALLY enjoy every one of Bungie's games, and hope to work somewhere half as cool as there one day. But Halo 2 just doesn't live up to what I expected out of a Halo game. (And I don't think Bungie sucks. I doubt any company could do half as good of a job as them. Just some quibbles with Halo's direction, that's all.) |
