Oh man have you hit the nail on the head.
I have been thinking about just exactly what it was that changed the greatest game ever, now I don't have to write it down at all, I'll just say "Mothergoats second opinion" nuff said. "DON'T FIX IT IF IT AIN'T BROKEN."
I used to play HALO EVERY DAY, I lost count of how many times I played through the campaign on legendary, on weekend stretches non stop no problem, and with my son on co-op, nothing like your ten year old learning all your legendary moves, and then charging out into the lead so you could WATCH him pull off all the great gameplay that you were usually so immersed in that in the heat of battle you couldn't stop and smell the roses, the FUN and ACTION in HALO was ALWAYS magnificent. My heart would beat out of my chest, it was perfect.
There was NEVER a question in my mind about what game I was going to play, or if i would even play a game. It was simple GAME=BUNGIES HALO period. FUN GREAT PERFECT GAME=BUNGIES HALO period. BEST PERFECT FUN GAME DEVELOPERS=BUNGIE period.
Now its always a choice and sadly most of the time if I choose MICROSOFTS HALO2 I usually end up watching a movie. Don't get me wrong, I think its a great game, I think all its bits are good, its just that it got "fixed" like a ton of other "version 2" games out there that I WANTED to buy, its just not so blindingly shiny, not so apt to turn a fan into a fanatic. I was a word hose for Bungies Halo, now all I say to people about Microsofts Halo2 is "you'll see", then I change the subject.
p.s. Am I the only one who misses the heartbeat. In HALO2 I just hide, recharge, take three hits, and die. I'm a SUPER SOLDIER DAMN IT, THE MASTER CHIEF...W.T.F.????
