In Response To: Re: Mothergoat's Second Opinion of Halo 2 (AZC) After reading all the opinions on Halo 2, I thought the old adage 'it's not hard to be number 1, the hard part is staying there.' rings true in this case. After waiting 3 years for Halo 2, would you have been satisfied with the exact same gameplay but with a different storyline and maps? No, you would probably been pissed that it took them 3 years just to write a story. I know would have been. Had Bungie released Halo 2 with little or no changes, they would have been critized for not changing the physics or adding new weapons, etc.. I really like Halo 2, with the exception of the ending. Did bungie need to change a few things? Yes. Why? Imagine having a huge fan base that do play other games (gasp!) and trying to put in everything that made Halo great and adding things that gamers liked in other game titles. Trying to please everybody all of the time just doesn't work, not to mention it being impossible. So, they took all these 'cool' ideas and tried to apply them to Halo 2. What they got was the proverbial redheaded step daughter. Granted, she's hot, but she's just isn't everyones dream girl anymore. Saying that, how could it be?
