In Response To: Halo 2 was rushed? What about Halo 1?!?! (Bey Bey Bey) : What I seem to notice, is that people who complain about Halo 2 seem to
Halo 1 wasn't perfect, and I don't think that anyone believes it was. But they did have something good there. Some people just believe that it was taken in a bad direction, I being one of them. Honestly though, if Halo 1 and Halo 2 were completely different games, with no ties between them at all and no expectations to hold up, it would be really easy to accept everything about the game. But we can't. Everyone is human, and everyone has expectations that they'd like to be met. : You say Halo 2 was rushed? No doubt about it, it's a big time game. But it
: Halo 1 came out precisely when X-box came out. Coincidence? I don't think so. Halo 1 was in development about as long as Halo 2, only it was changed to an Xbox project six months or so before release. Bungie already knew what they were going to do mostly, after doing tests on PC for so long, and all that was left to do was make it. Halo 2's entire design was done at the same time they were making it. : Where can we see Halo 1 was rushed? : The Library: Copy Paste/Copy Paste. Assault on the Control Room's exteriors
Do you not think everyone has already aknowledged this? : Halo 2's levels might not all be Awesome, and some levels might be worse than
The reason why Halo 1 was repetitive but still good: Halo 1's gameplay was already figured out. But by the time it was nice and done, they had to make some quick levels. I believe that most areas in Halo 1 are good because they were made to be open-ended and nonlinear, allowing for many different possibilities so it never felt like you were doing the same thing over and over like deja-vu. Even if seeing the same room over and over got to be repetitive, the gameplay wasn't. Halo 2 on the other hand, has levels that weren't rushed, and didn't have to be copy/paste, so they could make rooms that were made not to be cut/paste-able. Each was designed each with a specific purpose in mind. If you put ANY of the rooms in Halo 2 back-to-back, it wouldn't just feel repetitive, it would almost feel like deja-vu. As a result of this new design: many people feel the game lost it's non-linear touch. You go into a room and feel like the designers made it to be played that way. : P.S.: The pistol in Halo sucked. No questions about it. It was lovely in
I liked the pistol. You didn't. That doesn't mean it sucked, you just have a different opinion then I do.
